HP shortstop Joey Hainsfurther had the game-winning hit Saturday, as his two-RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the seventh rallied the Scots to a 4-3 win.
TERRELL – Highland Park sent another rally shot into the mix of District 10-4A baseball contenders Tuesday in a rain-dampened 9-6 win at Terrell.

The win evened their district record at 4-4, and kept them in fourth place and within striking distance of contenders Mesquite Poteet, Rockwall-Heath, and Richardson Pearce, who happen to be the next three teams on the Scots’ schedule.

The Scots’ games have been exciting in district for assorted reasons, but Tuesday was as steady as they have been despite having to rally from a 4-3 deficit. Joey Hainsfurther’s RBI double tied the score in the fourth before the go-ahead run on a Terrell error.

HP took advantage of another Terrell error in the fifth as Dutch Crews and Ryan O’Dywer scored following O’Dwyer’s double. A wild passed ball allowed Seth Gardner and Will Russell to score insurance runs in the sixth.

It was Hainsfurther providing the dramatics Saturday against West Mesquite. The junior hit a bases-loaded dribbler in the bottom of the seventh that just escaped the reach of West Mesquite’s second baseman to score two runs that rallied the Scots to a 4-3 win. Mason Woodley and Jonathan Perlman set up the winning play with singles at the start of the inning

HP needs help to make the playoffs, but could make another dent in the district standings with wins at Heath and against Pearce next week.
